Health and Well being

We will shortly have a new part-time health and well-being co-ordinator based at Greenbrow site. Watch this space for details of new courses and activities at the centre.

Ada Covell

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Ada Covell, who at 91, was our oldest serving volunteer. She will be greatly missed - despite her age no-one else in the organisation could walk as fast as she could. We extend our sympathies to the family.

Concerts with Bridgewater Hall

If you have missed the first two concerts then make sure you don't miss the ones on Tuesday 29 September and Tuesday, 5th October both from 12.30 - 1.30. They are absolutely brilliant as these pictures show.

SECOND SHOP FOR TREE OF LIFE CENTRE

We are delighted to say that thanks to support from The Big Lottery we have now opened a second community shop in the former Greenbrow Primary School in Newall Green. Our opening hours are Mon-Thurs from 10.00-3.00pm and you are welcome to come and look at our plans. We need to do some repairs to the school before we can fully open - roof and windows - to remedy the decay and vandal damage but when we have we will have a HUGE centre to offer to the local community. Pop in and have a cup of tea/coffee and find a bargain at the same time.

Bridgewater Hall Concerts here again!!

The concerts delivered by the artists from Bridgewater Hall have been very popular in the past few years. In fact, so popular, that they will be holding FOUR, yes FOUR this year on Tuesday 14th, 21st and 28th September and Tuesday, 6th Ocober. Different artists will play each week so make a note in your diary now so that you don't miss this prestigious event. More details later.

Caring with Confidence - to help you care for someone

We have been asked to run again our very successful Caring with Confidence course that carers found so successful. Comments like -"it really helped me to be sure that what I was doing was the best thing" and " it made such a difference to me" plus the training to help you manage your caring role better made us want to help more people.

Caring for someone you love for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week can be really stressful and only those who have been there know just how stressful it is. So if you think this course might help you it runs for 7 weeks on Friday mornings from 10.30am-12.30pm followed by lunch together and starts on 14th May. Just ring us if you would like to come.

Operations Manager

We are delighted to announce that Colin Renshaw will be joining us on 25 January 2010 to be the Operations Manager at our new premises. Colin lives in Sharston and wants to make a difference in his local area and is ideally suited to the post. More details to follow about other posts as soon as a location for our new premises is confirmed.

Are you looking after someone?

If so, we know what a hard job it is. We know you want to continue to care but sometimes you just need a bit of help. Our "Caring with Confidence" is a short 7 week course giving you lots of support and guidance to make that role a little bit easier. It will start on 6th November at 10.30-1.30pm and is being delivered by Manchester Carers Team. Topics include Caring and Resource, Caring and Me, Caring and Coping.
