Award Ceremony at the Savoy, London

Well, Jeremy and I got our suits out and went down to London to the Savoy Hotel. We were invited as part of the Cheshire Furniture Re-use Forum who were nominiated for the best Community Recycling Initiative - and we won!! We were really pleased to have the work recognised as the Forum has increased the tonnage of re-used furniture by 90% and helped over 10,000 people. We are pleased to have played our part in avoiding goods going to lanfill and can't wait until next year to see if we win again!

Don't you think these bookmarks are lovely? Avis Rent a Car have very kindly agreed to distribute 2,000 of them to local furniture shops so that when people are buying a new bed or sofa they can donate the old one to us if it is in a good condition. (Note: It is a legal requirement that the Fire Retardant labels are attached for soft furniture.)

Art Treasures in Manchester: 150 years on

The Manchester Art Treasures exhibition of 1857 inspired the world. It was the largest art show ever to be staged in Britain, featured over 16,000 exhibits of the most important historic and modern art ever displayed and was visited by over 1.3 million people.

150 years on, Manchester Art Gallery tells the story of this extraordinary achievement in a major new exhibition using images, stories, artefacts and music. Over 170 outstanding artworks from the original exhibition also return for this anniversary show, including Michelangelo’s Manchester Madonna.There’ll be a whole range of free Art Treasures events for adults and families to take part in too.
